On Sunday 13th October, a group of us ran the Oxford Half running 13.1 miles for The Lucy Rayner foundation Mental Health Charity.

This has been the 3rd time where I have taken part in the Oxford Half and every year, it doesn't disappoint.

The atmosphere was amazing and the support from people was through the roof.

For another year we had record number of runners that took part, with 13,000 people running for their causes.

Last year was 12,000.

When you are running along the street, it can be a bit overwhelming when your in front of so many people but you have to remember that your not alone and you have thousands of people to support you.

When I slowed down, people kept motivating me to keep going and I did that to others as well.

In our group this year, we had 6 of us that ran for the charity and it makes me feel so proud that we are keeping Lucy's name alive in Oxford.

I would like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to those who took part with me on the day.

As well as running, we were also fundraising for The Lucy Rayner Foundation where our total raised so far is:

We are still receiving donations so we could end up being a lot higher than this.

This is incredible and this will fund at least 37 free counselling sessions to a young adult struggling with their Mental Health.

Here is a comment from the team at The Lucy Rayner Foundation:

'What an incredible effort! Thank you so much for fundraising for The Lucy Rayner Foundation. Your hard work and dedication make a huge difference in the lives of those we support. We're grateful for your commitment to our cause and can't wait to see the impact of your contributions. Keep up the fantastic work!’

I want to say a Massive THANK YOU for all the lovely messages on the day too.

Seeing all those words of encouragement really made a massive difference.

Once we had finished the race, we received a medal, water and a finishers T-shirt.

For the last couple of years, I didn't bother getting one but it looked really good this time so had to get one.

Sadly in 2025, I won't be personally running but I will still be there on the day with hopefully supporting the runners for Team Rayners.

In writing this blog, we currently have 1 person already signed up for next year.

This year, so many people were disappointed with not being able to get a spot, so get in there early for 2025.

If you would like to take part in the Oxford Half 2025 and want to join Team Rayners, then sign up here.
