On Thursday 5th December 2024, we hosted a day of Christmas fun with the main part being carol singing from one of our local schools in Oxford and it was a very big success.

For a while we wanted to organise something in the store I work in and after a suggestion from one of my colleagues last year, it gave me an idea to get something sorted for this Christmas.

We went through months of planning plus back and forward with emails but we finally made it happen.

Across the day we had support from different companies who we as a Coop work with and it was an honour to have them in our store, talking to the customers showcasing what they do and giving their time.

At 4pm we had a group of children singing in the entrance of the store and once the children had finished singing, we gave out warm mince pies, chocolates, hot chocolate from the coffee machine, Barry from Noodle King also gave out free spring rolls on a stick and from all the faces, I could tell they really enjoyed it.

As well as free food, we also had some images that the children could colour in too and we put them up in store so people can see.

Feel free to pop in and have a look.

Here are some of the images that were taken across the day

Simon from Mudwalls was giving out free Mulled wine

Jack Hamson from Rose Hamson flowers

Pippa from Oxford Food Hub

Brian from Tap Social Movement

Santa Claus was even helping out on Noodle King

Teachers from Cumnor Primary School

I also want to give a MASSIVE SHOUT OUT to Simon Overend for this being his idea and between us, we then turned it into a bigger event.

I want to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who made the day work, including my manager James for trusting me with the organising of it all but also Cumnor primary school children for taking time out of the day to come and support us.

Without you, it wouldn't have made the day complete.

I would like to wish you all a very big Merry Christmas and a Happy New YEAR to you all.

Love From

Steve
